Don't think the skewer will be strong enough.  I suggest using a 1-1/2" long piece of the same 1/8" diameter carbon tube used for the wing spar.   Remember that the peg should be vertical when the wingtips are at the same height (level), so the top of the peg is actually angled outward when that side of the wing is flat on the table.  Sand the end of the spar with a 1/8" round file so the shaft of the peg fits into the end of the spar. When you sand the end of the spar to accept the peg, make sure you allow for this angle.  I'll look for a photo to upload, that shows this angle.   John   ________________________________ From: mattnsim <mattnsim@...> To: BugHLG@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 12:49 AM Subject: [BugHLG] DLG rod   Hi Guys, I have only now finally started my bug. I have pretty much made everything. I just need some advice on the DLG peg in the wing. How strong does the peg joint need to be? I can imagine it will be taking a lot of stress in the wing tip. I was going to use a satay skewer of about 1/8" diameter and Polyeurethane glue it in. with a coupld of ply doublers.. Any tips or experience would be appreciated..
