Stock bug can be SAL with a preset on your transmitter to compensate for the yaw of a SAL. If you're right-handed put in 3-6 'clicks' of right trim and maybe a few up trim - start off easy and work up to full power adjusting the trims as you go. Most who SAL the bug carry the CF tube past the outter rib to the edge of the wingtip, then sand it to a taper. A touch of fiberglass cloth on the launching wingtip wouldn't hurt either. Say .75 oz - 2 oz. weight. A small patch of glass to join the V-tails wouldn't hurt. Say on the topside of one side, over the CF tube then up the other side. The V-tail is going to take some rotational stresses at launch so a little reinforcement is in order. Keep it light - 2 oz. cloth max. HS-50 servos are great. I'd go with at least the 150 mAh NiMh pack, I used a 280mAh pack myself, and made up for the extra weight by switching to a GWS R-4P receiver. If you're a dual-conversion must-have person then go for the FMA M-5 instead. If you really have to use the 555, at least remove the case and use some light clear heat-shrink on it. I like the 'clearly superior' stuff sold at ihttp://www.airdyn.com (formely nyblimp.com). Personally at $28 the GWS receiver is my personal favorite for the Bug. The bug is a blast, no matter how you launch. Careful, it's addicting! You'll be up to one of the $400 composite ships in no time. Al > > A friend just told me about this group.
