Subject: Some success, but...
I have finally finished building and had some flying. The bug fuse is glassed with two layers of .75 oz and because i don't have 555 I used 4-cell battery instead of 3. I have also glassed the tail for extra strength. I am doing all these coz I am a newbie at HLG and all my previous flying is with "indestructible" EPP foamies. Sadly, all these over enginnering has led to a heavier than spec bug, weighing in at 4-4.5Oz (not really sure coz my scale is crappy) Today I have been chucking it around and had some rough landing with no ill effect to the bug - sigh of relief. The weather is crap with occasional drizzle. The wind is not too strong - may be 5-6km/h? I don't know what the ideal weather is for flying the bug.. ?Sunny days with no wind??? My launch height is about 6-7m only and then the plane just float its way down. When the wind blows, it just get blown away... Well. I don't know. May be I will try on a better day. May be I will try shake some weight off. The author / designer says the bug will be good for light slope. Does some one actually try and what condition is best for the bug on flat field / small slope? Bottomline is I am happy I have something to chuck around, although I wish it performs better... Cheers, Henry
