I made a couple of mistakes in the post.

This is the 1/8" rubber (3mm). That's the thickness you want. I've actually used the 3/16" ID rubber but I have to be very careful to limit how far I stretch the rubber. You can fold the wing if you put too much pull on the Bug.
The length of rubber would depend on how large a field you fly from.

Don't know if these are available in your country. You might be able to look at a medical supply house for latex surgical tubing. Key rings work for the rings and kite string.
The size depends on how large the field is, where you fly.
