Hi, Regards hinging..there is a note at the end of the pdf manual that explains how to use Micafilm covering to make hinges..they go into a slit...it explains how to get the material into the slit btw...Rgds...Laurie --- In BugHLG@yahoogroups.com, "Mark" <flyeround@...> wrote: > > Thanks for responding so quickly guys. There was just a drift of wind coming up the hill, which if I caught it right was enough to keep the Bug ghosting along at about walking pace. No long flights but magical! > > I meant to say too that I have "invented" the ideal tool for creating those large lightening holes in the wingtips and tailfeathers, and of course in other planes. I had tried cutting round handy tin lids etc but these did not leave the holes very tidy. I the end I turned up a cone from a scrap of wood about 4 ½ inches long tapering from say ¼ inch up to 1 ¼ inches and glued some 120 grade abrasive paper to it. Just a few turns in in a rough and ready hole and Bingo! a really neat clean finish, and round too. I should patent it and become a millionaire - why has no one thought of this before, or have I reinvented the wheel? > > I used Sellotape Diamond tape for the hinges. This is very thick isn't it. I cut it to half width, ¼ inch, and pinned the fin and rudder about 3/32" apart then stuck the tape to the bare wood. This worked OK but with the edges any closer the hinge was too stiff. I didn't fancy slicing into 1/16" edge to put a mylar hinge in. What does anyone else use? The covering goes up to but not over the hinges. > > I made a temporary foam "nose" to fit over the Bug. It helps it to bounce when I make a poor launch! Doesn't seem to affect the flight very much an can bef removed when I get better. >
