I have both types but I fly the standard tail ( Rudder, Elevator ) a lot more than the V tail. It turns a lot tighter and I get a better launch with it also. The V tail seams to slid side ways a lot more when launched but that may be the way I throw. I'm thinking of putting a small out runner on my V tail just to see how it works --------------------------------- Pinpoint customers who are looking for what you sell. So which is more fun to fly? I was playing with the FMS model and found it to be incredibly acrobatics, but I am not sure how realistic it is. I am planning on discus launching, but would hate to accidentally mess up the acrobatic nature of the plane (if the FMS is accurate) by changing out the v-tail to the cruciform (x-tail) Anyway, as a compromise, I was wondering if anyone has ever considered adding a skeg below the boom of the the v-tail (making it a Y-tail?). Here is where my lack of experiance shines through. I understand that 2 issues on discus launch are the stress on the tail and the roll (caused by dihedral and rudder shape). The skeg might help with the roll, but if stress is the bigger problem, I doubt the Y would help much. Please help educate the newbe

Ernesto. Yes. The Bug can be launched with a highstart. You just have to make sure that the highstart rubber is the right size for the small Bug. A lot of people have stretched the wingspan of the bug to about 34 inches (87 cm) by adding an extra rib bay on each side of the wing center secion. Hi Ernesto, It all depends on how you plan to launch your Bug. If you plan to use side arm (discus) launch then use the cruciform as it is much better for the sideways forces during the launch. If javelin type throw is for you then the V-tail is fine.
