I use silicone to make a hinge. Bevel the edges of the tailp plane and elevator. Hold the tail plane and elevator together at the un-bevelled side with masking tape or sellotape. Turn over and run a thing strip of silicone in the bevelled groove. Run your finger in the groove to remove excess silicone. You want to leave a very thin layer. Scrape off any overflow on the wooden surfaces with an old credit card or something similar. Allow to set. You should end up with a thin flexible hinge. Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming it was similar to tyvek but thinner. Is this right? Does anyone else have an idea for hinges? Hello Mitch, I wrote the original article on Micafilm hinging - http://www.rcarticles.9f.com/. A lot of what you see on the group site is at least 6 years old. Unfortunately Coverite no longer makes Micafilm. It was available for many years but fell out of favor three or four years back. I still have a small quantity for myself to use for hinges, but the only hope you have of getting some is RC flea markets or maybe a hobby shop that has old stock. If you are a member of an RC club, you might ask some of the older members. One might have some in his old-covering bin. I don't know what you could use as a replacement for hinges. Try here for Micafilm: http://www.faimodelsupply.com/FAI6-COVER.htm . Micafilm is made by Coverite. Also marketed by Solarfilm in the UK, as Fibafilm. This stuff has changed over the years. It used to be random oriented fiber. Now, the fibers are more linear oriented. Makes nice hinges. You might also try Tyvec. Its used in home construction and to make those tear proof envelopes. Hello Group, I'm a new member. I just build my first Bug. In fact this was my first build up balsa model ever. It flies great. Thanks for the great instructions listed in your file section. I used tape for the hinge line however after finding and reading the artical on mica file hinging I would like to change it out. I've done lots of google searches on mica film but have been unable to locate a source to purchase the material. Where and what should I look for when purchasing? Thanks for the help in advance. Mitch
