Recently I learned that my CAD program scales the .pdf file to fit the page size with no option to set the scale to actual size, so that file is  not to scale.  I just uploaded a new Bugtail.pdf  file to the Lightninbug folder.  This one has a border to ensure the scale.  The height should be roughly 7".   John ________________________________ From: mpwlad <mpwlad@...> To: BugHLG@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 3:17 PM Subject: [BugHLG] Re: Anyone Building Yet?   The Lightninbug 34" DLG will be my first Bug build. Is the 'modified optional fin/rudder Mar 29, 2012' file in the Lightninbug 34" SAL or DLG folder to scale and print actual size - I think the rest of the pdf files are print actual size, but not sure about that separate tail pdf. Hi all. Just finished my first bug... watch out for the laminate covering. I covered the tip to rib 7 with normal covering, laminate couldn't handle the curve. Then to others,I would suggest the lighteninbug with all option 2 parts... that's it... happy flying all --- In BugHLG@yahoogroups.com, "mpwlad" <mpwlad@...> wrote: > > The Lightninbug 34" DLG will be my first Bug build. > > Is the 'modified optional fin/rudder Mar 29, 2012' file in the Lightninbug 34" SAL or DLG folder to scale and print actual size - I think the rest of the pdf files are print actual size, but not sure about that separate tail pdf. > > I'm guessing that if I want to build a 34-35 inch wingspan Bug, the Lightninbug is the one to build. > > Covering - not sure where or what to buy - I couldn't find any 1.1 mil laminate in US > I did find some 1.3ml laminate 500 feet 12 inches 30 dollars > 'http://www.usi-laminate.com/store/wpbec_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?Level1=454' > > > > --- In BugHLG@yahoogroups.com, "raincityflyer" <lewis08@> wrote: > > > > I got started building this weekend and posted an update in the files section. > > > > Changes so far: > > > > Full flying elevator - First attempt at this new design. I'm guessing that if I want to build a 34-35 inch wingspan Bug, the Lightninbug is the one to build. Covering - not sure where or what to buy - I couldn't find any 1.1 mil laminate in US I did find some 1.3ml laminate 500 feet 12 inches 30 dollars 'http://www.usi-laminate.com/store/wpbec_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?Level1=454' --- In BugHLG@yahoogroups.com, "raincityflyer" <lewis08@...> wrote: > > I got started building this weekend and posted an update in the files section. > > Changes so far: > > Full flying elevator - First attempt at this new design. Thanks, John. The tip is 1/8" on a 45' bias. The spar is channeled in almost to the back side. The thumb grip (airfoil shape) is contest balsa notched for the spar and then hand sanded to shape like a Nipper wing tip. The LE is some sort of Asian import that is more like Rattan or something and bent around the entire tip using the "wet one side" technique. Looks Great!  Love the lightning bolt on the rudder.  Are your tips made of two layers of 1/16" balsa to form the airfoil shape or are they solid?   John ________________________________ From: raincityflyer <lewis08@...> To: BugHLG@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, March 18, 2012 10:47 PM Subject: [BugHLG] Anyone Building Yet?   I got started building this weekend and posted an update in the files section.
