You can look at this in several ways. I am really an Apogee flyer (Drela's mini glider design, plans on the web), but monitor this group to see the interesting discussions. In the Apogee world, it was manufactured as a kit (didn't sell enough to stay in busienss) and as an RTF (see the Elf at Kennedy composites). My experince and reference are what I enjoy at the field. In a hobby where the numbers of flyers is declining very significantly, anything we can do to get people interested is important. Days when there are several other flyers at the field are always more fun, even better when you have similar aircraft. If buying an RTF is what it takes, so be it. Let's just hope the manufactured versions have the quality to keep people interested.

Looks like a direct descendant, not quite a copy, muck like the change from Bug to Linghtin' Bug. I hope it is good and cheap. Wish it had given credit where credit is due, but with legal issues being what they are....

What is everybody's opinion on this?

I think that is shoddy business practice. Even shoddier is the quality of the covering. Take a look at the picture of it on their website. Someone has decided to use the Bug plans and produce an ARF.  He is calling it a Colibre to cover up the fact that he's using the Lightninbug plans.  The company is called CLM.
