Yeah, spring is most certainly here in NC. Though we've been getting a great deal of rain lately. All that moisture has probably destroyed my brand bew bug that a particularly evil tree ate on the planes maiden flight, well maiden hard throw. It was a cross tailed bug with the ag airfoils but not a lightening bug. Seemed to fly great, right into the tree... Oh well, I have another couple of kits and will detinitely build them at some point. This was probably my 5th or 6th bug since the first one I built from RCM plans following the original magazine article, but it's the first i've lost irretrievably. All part of the fun of flying... Btw, Dave at aerowerkes does an awesome job of laser cutting and kitting whichever bug you want. Cheap too and fast shipping. I think i'll build a lightening bug next...:-) --- In BugHLG@yahoogroups.com, "gldrgidr" <gldrgidr@...> wrote: > > I live in New Jersey so those of you still covered in snow, forgive me. > > I've been getting some flying in this week. Our club's getting seriously "Buggy". We have a one design DLG "Bug" contest June 22nd. Standard DLG rules with a 10 minute window. The one rule is that the plane has to look like a lightning bug with max 34" wing. I've seen a couple really pretty bagged wing ones... I'll post pix after the contest. I live in New Jersey so those of you still covered in snow, forgive me. I've been getting some flying in this week. Yesterday there were two flights over three minutes with my Lightning Bug - a 3:30 and a 3:40. The more I fly it, the more I love it. The AG airfoil does give it higher launches and it just handles better than my old one with the original S3014 airfoil. Are there others out there building and flying lightning Bugs? I noticed that if anyone posts a message to the RCgroups thread 'Bringing Back the Bug', we get two or three new members in this group. John
